The Philomath Downtown Association, members of the community, and Pioneer Telephone have joined together again to coordinate the Flower Basket Sponsorship Program for Spring and Summer of 2010. These fabulous baskets have added such a wonderful beauty to our downtown and we enjoyed them all summer long!
The PDA pays for the brackets on the city light poles and all the hangers but the baskets need to be sponsored by individuals, businesses and groups in the community and surrounding area.
There are currently 20 lamp posts along Main and Thirteenth Streets where we typically hang two baskets on each post allowing for forty baskets. During the 2009 season, we were able to hang 32 additional baskets on private buildings, lampposts and sign posts because of additional sponsorships and donations from the community.
The baskets are expected to go up during the first week of May 2010. Volunteers water the baskets. Most volunteers elect to water one day a week with the help of one other person. We are always in need of volunteers. If you are interested, select the link below.
If your business is not located in the Main and Thirteenth area, you are still welcome and encouraged to sponsor a basket and hang it yourself at your place of business. You will need to arrange for the bracket, made by and ordered through West Coast Machines in Philomath (next to Spindrift Winery).
You can contact any member of the Philomath Downtown Association Board and/or Design Team listed on the website, or simply send us an email message with your questions. In addition, these businesses also have information: Solar Summit, Edward Jones, and Citizen's Bank.
